Happy Feet

Yesterday, I went to Long Beach High School to watch a performance with my aunt. The performance's topic is " Happy Feet". It is the dancing about ballet , tap dance and hip-hop. My cousin Erica was there. She learns ballet and hip-hop, so she also had to perform.
The range of age of the dancer there were between 4 and 15 (i think) . Dances wore many kinds of different and becautiful clothes. The funniest scene was that 4 years old kids didn't know how to dance ballet. One of them did not dance from begining to the end. However, they got the ardentest applause.

Forbidden Kingdom

Yesterday, I watched a movie online. The name of the movie is " Forbidden Kingdom". I think many people know it. There are two famous actors who are from China. They are Jet Lee and Jacky Chang. They are good at Kungfu. When I know this movie was acted by them, I was so expectful to watch it.
After I watched a part of the movie, I felt very strange because it is a movie about a Chinese mystic story, and also the people there speak English. It was impossible because in the past, Chinese people couldn't speak English.
I didn't finish watching it. I changed my mind to watch another one movie which also is acted by Jacky Chang, Rush Hour 3.

Difficulty

After the test, I used to say to try to continue doing my blog. However, it is very hard because there is no pressure. From last Sunday, I wrote two journals in my blog, but I didn't finish them, just two or three sentenses, so I didn't publish them.

Register

Yesterday, I went to school to register. I arrived at school around 10:10am. However, it was 3 hours after when i got a advior's advise. There were many people, but there were only two adviors.

I went to school to register again today. Becasuse I don't want to take the communication about public speech, I changed my mind to take another one. I was smarter today because I went to school very early, about 8:30am I arrived at school. There was no student there who wants to register except me.

I changed all the schedule because of Hector's advise. I got Friday's off. On Tuesday and Thursday, I only have one class which is ENG 101. I hope Young will be in my class because he also chooses the same time as mine.

I did it !!!

I am so happy today because I passed the placement test. I was so nervous before I knew the result.
I don't know what I want to write. I just want to upload the picture we took with Elaine in the party. I don't know if someone will go to my blog or not. Don't worry about that if you do not come. I sent some photos to some of you by e-mail.

Come On !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so happy now because I am using my own computer. : )
My computer was deliveried to my house around at 11:20 when my aunt wanted to leave to work. I was so lucky, or I might not see it today.
Tomorrow, we will take the Placement Test. I am sure all the students in our class will pass. Right? Come on! We will overcome the Placement Test.

Pressure from the placement test

Because of the next week's placement test, this week(from Monday to Sunday), I was asked to take three days off of work by my uncle. Normally, I do not have off night. I am not getting used to have off nights. If I stay at home, I feel nothing to do, so usually I sit in my bed. However, sitting in the bed to study tries me out.
Because of the second time to take the placement test, I got pressure from my family, including my parents, grandparents, uncle & aunt in the USA, and uncle & aunt in New Zealand.

False Alarm

When I arrived at home, I did not pay attention to the box which put in the floor. I went to upstair, then my uncle said," Your computer was at downstair, but the box was very light. Maybe somebody stole your computer because the delivery guy just put the box in the front of the main door." I went to downstair at once. When I opened the box, I only found the bag I ordered.
I immediately went to the Internet to check my order status. Fortunatly, I found that they just shipped my computer today. It means I will receive my computer after a couple of days.

Phone Call

Last night, when I fell asleep, I got a phone call. I did not answer it because I was sleeping. I saw the phone number, and I knew it was my home telephone number in China. Then I turned off my cell phone.
This morning, when I was on the way to school , I called back home. My mother said there was nothing important. Just she wanted to call my aunt but made a mistake to type my number.
Actually, I do not like people to call me at midnight, especilly when I was sleeping. If I remember to turn off cell phone, it would be ok. If not, I woke up then couldn't fell asleep again. You can imagine it. It would be terrible.

My Off Night

Tonight, I do not have to work because of the rain and the next week's placement test. So now I am at home. : )
My uncle let me stay at home because I am going to take an important test. My cousin Erica also is at home with me now. We both finished our homowork already. Erica saw that I am creating the blog, and she asked me to write her in it. You see I am writing about her, right.
Erica said this was the first time she did her science homework without my help. It is good for her. Usually, I help my cousins with their homework, especially with math. If I help them English, I have to look up the vocabulary which I do not know in dictionary.

Order a Laptop Online

Since the day I came to the U.S.A., I had wanted to buy my own laptop. However, I did not do it until yesterday.

I ordered the laptop online. It cost me $549 without tax. The original fee was $853, but I got $304 off. I also ordered a bag which was $50. Plus the shipping fee and tax, totally I spent $673.

I think I am very lucky because the laptop's fee is $853 again today. I will receive it after the placement test. I am so happy. :)

My Health

Recently, I always get hurt.
Last Friday, while I was cleaning the floor, I hurt my nose by the broom. Also,when I was washing the dishes, my cousin wanted to mop the floor. I asked him not to hit me. However, he did.
Last Sunday,when I was making salad, I cut my finger. I did not know why. Maybe I was out of my mind at that time.
Also, I do not know why I bleed at the nose. Actually, I want to have a exam for my body.However, I do not have time. So after the placement test, I will go.

Cleaning Day

Actually, I wanted to go to beach today. However, I changed my mind. I stayed at home to arrange my stuff. I did the laundry and packed up all the winter's clothes.Also, somebody came to my house to repair doors because there were four door which could not close. There was nothing special happened today.

A Short Conversation

As the result of the fire drill this morroning at school, we had a short extra break time.
I ran into my good friend outside of F building. Actually, I meet him once a week but only few minutes because we do not have much time to talk. So today we talked about our current studies. I was so sad because he told me he could not take the placement test because of six absences. I used to persuade him to go to school on time, no absence. He said yes. I am disappointed because I used to hope we can pass together. I wish he can have a chance to take the test.

Another Birthday Party

Today is my cousin Erica's birthday.She is nine years old now.
After I arrived at home, I went to her elementary school to celebrate her birthday with my uncle and aunt. You know, there are all 9-year-old small students in her class. It was not interesting to have a birthday party with small children.
I took some photos for them, but I could not upload here to show to you when I wrote this jounal.

Shopping Day

Yesterday, I went to Chinatown and Flushing with my aunt's family. Actually,we just went to Chinatown to repair something. Before we entered Chinatown, we stopped at the bridge which is Chinatown extance for half an hour. Our car could not move because of a traffic accident. There were three cars crashed together.

We just stayed in Chinatown about 15 minutes, then drove to Flushing. We went to oder a birthday cake for my cousin Erica because Monday would be her birthday. Also my aunt and I bought 7 pairs boots together. One of my aunt's friends would close her store at the end of this month, so everyting was for sale. One pair was $25, two were $40, three were $50, and other things were " buy one get one free".

A Lucky Day

I just arrived at home because it takes me one and a half hour to go home from school.

I think today is a lucky day for me. When I arrived at Long Beach, it was 1:43 pm. However, the Long Beach bus "West End"which I should take just departed. I wanted to run to the Long Beach Library to catch the bus because there is the next stop. Fortunately, the bus driver saw me and stopped to wait for me before the library.

I know the driver. I mentioned that I used to study in Manhattan before. During that three months, every afternoon I took the bus which was driven by him. It was almost one year ago.He knew and remembered me. However, I do not know his name. After I entered NCC, I took afternoon class in summer and fall semesters. I take his bus again this semester. It is not too often, only two times a week because my aunt picks me up when she has time.

That's one of the reasons I said that it was comfortable to take the same bus in my blog.

A Funny Study

Tonight, I learned something from my cousin Erica.
She is learning all capitals of the United States. And she takes tests these few days. It's difficult to remember all States and capitals' names and spelling. My aunt taught her a funny way to remember. For example, about the capital of Virginia, my aunt taught " have much money, and diamond", then Erica said Richamond. And about the capital of Nevada, my aunt said" It is car's son", so it is Carson City. Even though, it is a little strange. Whatever, it is a good way to memory.
When I tested Erica, I also remembered some of them, about 20 States.

Nothing Special

This morring, I woke up at 9:30 am. Then I started to talk with my parents by using webcam. My mother said I was fatter than the time I came to the US. Actully, I agree with her because my face is round now. My college roommates who are in China aslo said that.
After breakfast, it was exactly 11:30 am. I watched some DVDs with my cousin Erica. She loves Hannah Montana. So we watched the DVDs about her for few hours. It was very funny.

Bus Driver

From the first day I went to NCC, I usually took a bus from Hempstead at the same time every weekday each semester. This Semester, I always take a bus at 12:48 from Hempstead to Long Beach. I know the driver. However, after the vacation, the driver has been changed. I am not getting used to have a new bus driver. I know, it sounds weird. Actually, I take three buses from my house to school. I take each bus at s specfic time. That's why I know the bus drivers well. I feel comfortable to take the bus which is driven by a driver who I know.

Newborn Baby On April 1st

My cousin Catherine gave birth to a baby boy at 1:00 am today. By the way, she is in China.
I called her at night on March 31 when she was in hospital. Then I knew she would have a baby in few hours. The day had been 15 days earlier than prediction. I was so surprised. There is a saying about newborn baby: if the day is earlier, it will be a girl; if the day is late, it will be a boy. So everybody in my and her husband's families was worried about her.
I told my cousin do not have baby on April 1st because it is Fool's day. In the future, there is nobody will believe her son's birthday date is April 1st except our families. However, it still happened. Whenever her son was born, their health is the most important thing for us.

Time Flies!

How far it is! Eleven days' vacation has almost finished. I found I did nothing special. Most of time I stay at home. I only went to Flushing once.
Before the spring break, I thought I would spend these eleven days very well. Actually, I felt very boring because I only played computer more than before.
From everybody's blog, I know all you have had fun during this vacation. I envy all of you.
Whatever, today is the last day. I am so glad because I can see all of you on Monday. I miss the days with you in our class. ^_^

Pingpong

I read my friend's blog by accident. I found he wrote pingpong in his blog. Then I decided to write something about pingpong.
Pingpong, in the world, people call it table tennis. As you know, Chinese people are good at playing it because Chinese always are champion in the Olympic Game. I am proud of that.
When I was in China, I usually played it at home or school. It is my favorite sport. However, I rarely played it in the U.S.A. I only played once when I was in Florida. I miss the days in Florida.

My Former Classmates

I used to study in Manhattan for 2 months. At that shcool, I had six good friends in my class. There were Cecilia, Tae-hoon, Hoon, Andy, Satomi and Yuki. At that school, we had a field trip once pre two week with the whole class. We (Seven people) were always together. In addition, we took a lot of phots and always had lunch together after the trip. Although Andy went back to South Korea, Satomi went back to Japan, we still keep in touch with one another.

Last night , I was lucky to meet Hoon online. We were talking about have a meeting together with Tae-hoon, Cecilia, and maybe another our common friend "K". I am so excited because I only met Cecilia a few times after I study in NCC. I look forward to seeing them.

Birthday Party

Today is my younger brother's birthday. However, he is in London. I cannot celebrate for him. But yesterday was my cousin Jicky's birthday. We did not celebrate for him, so today we prepared a birthday party for him. Actually, there were only my family members. We took a lot of photos. We were happy today.
By the way,I bought a book as a birthday gift for Jicky. I did not want to buy a DS game for him.

A cold day at home

Unfortunately, there was no heat from last night in my house. Because we had never received the paper bills from Keyspan since last October, we could not pay the bills. Then last night, Keyspan stopped supporting our energy services. It is very cold to stay at home for me. The biggest reason is I hate cold. I do not want to be cold during the holiday.
This morning, a man from Keyspan came. We gave him the check, then asked him to support the energy services as soon as possible. He said there would be another man's work. Howerver, the man who can open the gas device did not come. It will be the coldest day in my house.

Pride and Prejudice

Do you remember that Elaine wrote"Pride and Prejudice" before we watched the movie" Bride and Prejudice"? I read the novel" Pride and Prejudice" when I was in China. However, at that time, the novel was translated into Chinese. I do not know if you read or not, but it is good, even though I read it in Chinese. I read it about 6 years ago, i think. The ending is a little different from the movie. The fouth daughter married the man who she ran away home with. And Darcy's mother liked Lalita ( I forgot her name in the novel) at last. I like to read" Pride and Prejudice".

Reflection From Culture

Today, we learned cultures' defference from our classmates. It was so interesting to learn other countries' cultures especially when your cultures were different from one another's. Chinese and Korean's cultures are similar. When Koreans said something, I always agreed with them. Howerver, Jin's absence was a pity. Actually, I feel so good if there is a person who is from the same country as you in the same class, even though we do not talk in Chinese. I hope Jin will come back to our class soon.

On the bus

There was an interesting thing happened on the bus which I usually take every morning. After a man got on the bus, he asked an old woman who sat next to him," Where is your husband?" "No. He is my brother, not my husband." That old woman answered very angrily. I did not know if somebody else heard that conversation, but I overheard. Before this morning, I also thought the old man who usually goes with the old lady was her husband. I was very surprised, and then decided not to guess the relationships of some people who I usually meet.
